    gruesome experience

    So last night, June 22, 2011 I rode the LRT going home when the unexpected happened… It’s been a short while since I’ve decided to take the LRT instead of the MRT going home because I resolved it was: 1.) faster- it could take me home earlier compared to MRT,  2.)cheaper- it would cost me less and 3.) easier- I would have less to worry transferring from one traspo unit to another.

     

    Well anyway, as I arrived to the LRT station, I found out that it broke down; we were already standing there for how many minutes, in the middle of the strong rains, trying to get our way to the platform when we learned that it would take some time to fix the problem. Whew! The worst part of it all was that they’ve given us NO explanation as to the reason of the LRT delay in  operation. The lady guard just raised a placard apologizing for the delay but didn’t bother to explain how it all happened. I had no choice but to go down and ride a jeepney or an fx but to no avail as the line and the transpo units were having trouble on the road as well, battling their way to get their passengers to their respective destinations—- HOME. So I went in line again to the LRT station and waited for how many minutes. I was able to get in one train cab at around 7pm, the ride took long. I was able to go the Monumento station at around 9pm. I waited again for my turn to ride the jeepney taking me home at around past 9 pm.   I was able to get home at around 10pm. To sum it up, it took me 4 hours to get home, soaking wet, hungry, thirsty and tired. It felt like I wrestled with 10 guys. My whole body ached all over that when I arrived home I just changed my clothes, washed my feet and slept. 4 HOURS of waiting and waiting and waiting! So tiring! I really don’t know what to feel. Yesterday, I feel like crying and not really going to work today as I feel my body so drained of energy. But when you’re working like me you do not have any right to be lazy…  

    I just hope that they immediately fix the problem with their trains and they should discipline people more by being stricter and sticking to their policies, rules and regulations that way, people will learn to discipline and follow rules and not just bend them at will. I guess that’s the root cause of this all. Learning discipline and how one can effectively implement them.
